Song
Our only player that on todays performance could walk into the chelsea team.

I loved how he was so comfortable on the ball in the middle of the park no one could take the ball off him. His passes could be better and he was a little slow at first, but what a player.

Has to start against the arse.

Re: Song
Yes, but all the same disappointing when the result is giving the ball back to them. I just think he can improve his passing and his passing should not be compared to Sir Trevor.

But do not think I do not rate song, His on the ball skills are the best I have seen for a long time.

Re: Song
Mex, the difference when Song passes is, it's mainly an effort to play a decisive pass. He tries to play balls that cut open defences, slightly unorthodox that catch opposition out, risk and reward.

Re: Song
crap,
I never said songs passing was weak
Just not that great as others said
Look success passing rate
Downing 85.1%
Noble 85.1%
Zarate 84.6%
Amalfitano 80.1%
NOLAN 80.1%
Kouyate 78.7%
Song 78.7%
Valencia 71.5%

Pay attention there
Sometimes I feel half the people on here do not even watch the players they comment on.

..that little way he kind of passes it through his own legs and slips past a challenge ..

Its called a cruyff feint. You learn it as a child, yet only few players masters it.
And saying his passing is weak is quite frankly foolish!

Re: Song
I have not seen his passing is that great, he must work on that. Certainly not comparable with Sir T or even Carrick for that matter.

However, he is great on the ball, that little way he kind of passes it through his own legs and slips past a challenge was wonderful and had thye chlsea midfield running about like headless chickens.

Re: Song
I thought Song took a little time to get going yesterday, but when he did, his class was there for all to see

Wonderfully gifted player, I really hope, by some miracle, he decides to stay

Like many have no doubt said, I really can't see how Nolan was given so much game time yesterday. I have defended the situation having him come on for the last 15 or 20 mns to shore up the midield a bit, but playing a full game against a midfield as fluid as Chelsea's was frankly ridiculous

Re: Song
Song was absolutely class yesterday when he came on, we look a different team with him playing, never rushes or panics, generates space in posession and has a great range of passing. The best midfielder we have seen in a West Ham shirt in many a year.

I would like to have seen Amalfitano a bit more in recent games as well. I guess this coming month is where the squad as a whole is used, so hopefully he'll get some time.

I guess with him, sometimes he's good, sometimes he's a bit anonymous. Definitely brings something to the side when he's on it though.

Re: Song
Song took a couple of knocks against Leicester and I am guessing BFS did not want to risk him getting another to make him unavailable against Arse at home which he sees as the winnable fixture

That does not explain Nolan on the pitch over Amalfitano and thus pushing Downing wide

Simon, totally agree with that

Re: Song
Not his best yesterday, but coming on in a game like that was always gonna be difficult, but soon put his stamp on the game. Should have started of course, would it have changed te result? I very much doubt it, but must start against Arsenal, who really are beatable, and QPR could have got something, had they had a bit more about them last night.

Will definitely start against Arsenal and should be fired up for it as well.

I think we can do them.

Eerie

Phil Neville had it bang on on MOTD, we are a top four side this Season and top four sides play their best players in the big games!

We have a problem here with Sam and that's playing Nolan and Carroll regardless and they aren't as good as other players we have, don't think behind closed doors he has the bottle to drop them.

Also playing Downing out of position was a stupid call, anyone of us could of turned up before the game as a temp manager asked the players who is fit enough to play and picked a better side out there and I'm not even joking!

Re: Song
You have to wonder if yesterday has made him realise we're not a club he should join permanently. What do you reckon the conversation was like?

'Right lads, it's Chelsea today. I've got this plan for the game, what I'm going to do is, drop the top scorer, so Sakho, no need to warm up son. Antly on WHO reckons you've been shit lately anyway, and not scoring from the one decent pass Nolan has made this season was criminal.

Song, lad, have a rest. We can't win today, it's Chelsea for Fuck sake, they're brilliant. No chance, we want to try and keep the score down. We're West Ham, we can't compete. Fancy signing permanently in the summer?
